Skype is a multi-platform application that provides voice calls and video chat between computers, mobile devices, and tablets. Skype keeps the world talking via instant messaging, Voice and Video calls. This guide will show how to install Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8.
Install Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8
Skype for RHEL family is available as an RPM package from the Skype website. Your work is to download and install it with yum or dnf command.
Step 1: Download Skype RPM Package
The easiest and quickest way to install Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8 workstation is by using the RPM package. Download it with curl
command:
curl -SLo skypeforlinux-64.rpm https://go.skype.com/skypeforlinux-64.rpm
Step 2: Install Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8
Once the download is completed, use yum or dnf tool to install Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8.
sudo dnf install skypeforlinux-64.rpm
Press the “y” key when prompted to begin installation.

Step 3: Launch Skype on CentOS 8 / RHEL 8
After successful installation, search Skype on your Desktop Environment search bar.

Configure Skype on CentOS 8/ RHEL 8 to start using it. If you’re a new user, create Skype account else Login with your username and password.
