Welcome to today’s guide on how to Install Pantheon Desktop Environment on Fedora 40/39/38/37. Pantheon is the default desktop environment that is bundled with elementary OS. Pantheon is designed to be fast and user-friendly with a highly polished appearance. Fedora Workstation has support for this DE and it can be installed using steps shared in this guide.

Update Fedora system

Let’s kick off by updating all system packages.

sudo dnf -y update

Install Pantheon Desktop on Fedora

Open terminal application on your Fedora system and run the command below to install Pantheon desktop environment.

sudo dnf group install 'pantheon desktop'

Type “y” to begin installation of Pantheon Desktop Environment on Fedora.

Once the installation is done, reboot your Fedora system.

sudo reboot

Use Pantheon Desktop on Fedora

On the login menu, click on the gear icon to select Pantheon Desktop Environment.

Select Pantheon Desktop Environment on Login screen

Provide your user login password to start enjoying Pantheon Desktop on Fedora 35/34/33/32:

  1. Note that in Fedora 37, follow the instructions and you’ll get: Module or Group ‘pantheon desktop’ is not available.
