When it comes to corruption in MS SQL database files, an easy and quick solution is to use professional MS SQL database repair software. There is much software available for repairing corrupt MS SQL database files. Here, we will review the software – Stellar Repair for MS SQL.
About Stellar Repair for MS SQL
Stellar Repair was created by Stellar Data Recovery, a software company specializing in disaster recovery. This company is based in India, but they have branches in the USA and Europe. They have been in the data recovery industry for more than 25 years and offer different data recovery solutions for different platforms and devices.
Stellar Repair for MS SQL is an advanced software that uses advanced algorithms to retrieve data from corrupted MS SQL database (MDF and NDF) files. The software recovers all the database objects, including tables, stored procedures, views, collations, and others. It can also recover deleted table records from the corrupt database file without impacting the existing data and original hierarchy. The software supports databases created in MS SQL Server 2022, 2019, 2017, 2016, and older versions.
Here, I will rate my experience in different areas.
Website
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The first thing that I do with a site, is to verify that the company is trustable. I used the scam adviser, to verify if the site is safe.
I got a trust score of 100/100!
100 is good enough for me. I will give my 5 stars on this. Now that I know that it is trustable, I will install it and test it.
Installation
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You can get the installer on the official software’s web page. The installer is only 6 MB (approximately) in size. The installation process takes less than a minute to finish.
I love it because the installer is not big, and the software does not take up too much space. Also, the installer is very simple, you do not need a manual the understand how to make it work.
User Interface
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The user interface is straightforward to learn and use. There are a few buttons used, so you don’t need to read a manual to understand how to fix your database.
Functionality
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The software can do the following:
- It allows you to find the data file if you do not know its path/location.
- It can recover deleted records from the database.
- It can restore tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, assemblies, data types, rules, defaults, sequences, etc.
- It has a Standard Scan and an Advanced Scan. If the database is extremely damaged, the Advanced Scan is required. But it takes longer to scan the database file.
- It offers an option to preview the recovered data. It also allows to select only the urgent tables and not the entire database, if some tables are no longer necessary.
- It allows to save the recovered data in a new database or in a live (existing) database.
- Another useful option is to export the table information in Excel, CSV, or files.
Prices and Editions
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The price of the software is reasonable, considering the options and functionality it offers.
The software is available in three different editions. The following table shows the differences between each edition:
Corporate | Technician | Toolkit | |
Price | $299 | $399 | $499 |
No. of databases | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Repair MDF and NDF files | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Recover all database components | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Reset password | No | Yes | Yes |
Extract data from corrupted backup | No | Yes | Yes |
Log Analysis | No | No | Yes |
Convert database format | No | No | Yes |
The Toolkit is the best option but it is expensive. I would recommend this edition, especially if you want to analyze the logs. It contains a nice tool to do Log Analysis. The second choice would be the Technician edition as it can restore passwords and backups.
Fixing SQL Server databases in suspect status
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I tried to fix a SQL Server database in suspect status to test this software. I stopped the SQL Service, copied the data file, created a copy of it, and tried to fix it.
It can preview my data, so I can see the data before repairing it. It was also possible to export the data to an Excel file, an HTML file, or a CSV file.
It can create a copy of the database or overwrite the existing database. After checking the data, I noticed that all the data was recovered.
Verdict
Stellar Repair for MS SQL is simple to use. You do not need to read a manual to learn it. If you have a corrupt database, you only need to pay, download, install, and run it. All these steps together may take a few minutes if it is not a big database.
It is a great option to recover a database that gets corrupted due to hardware problems, malware attacks, and other problems. The Technician edition can also recover corrupted backups and reset passwords. Finally, you have the Toolkit edition that includes all the features and can also analyze the logs and convert the database format.
I think it is a great software. If you are a SQL Server DBA, you should give it a try.
