Gaming has certainly come a long way over the last few decades, and probably more so than ever in the last five years. With technology continuing to develop at an impressive rate, this has had a hugely positive effect on gaming, enabling it to advance quicker and further than ever. So, with so many great advances made in gaming, let’s take a look at what’s managed to really catch the eye.
One of the first areas which have really improved when it comes to gaming is graphics. Visually, games are out of this world now, with many being able to be enjoyed in 4K. The PS5, which has recently been announced by Sony, produces graphics which are akin to real life, with the console also able to support 8K. The huge leap on a visual scale by consoles and console games doesn’t tell the full story though, as mobile games have taken giant strides forward in this area too, so have slot games, which play more like video games than ever before.
We mentioned mobile gaming above, and this is another area which has advanced immeasurably over a very short space of time. Every day more and more people are gaming on their smartphones, be it playing games from the various app stores, or even casino games at brands like Royal Vegas CA, which are also proving very popular right now. Mobile gaming has also embraced new technology like Augmented Reality, with titles such as Pokémon Go taking the world by storm as a result.
Virtual reality, which has been around for a while, has finally began to have an impact where gaming is concerned too. VR undoubtedly can change the gaming landscape entirely as it’s capable of producing a whole new way to experience games, and this is perhaps what the industry has been waiting for. There’s already VR based games out there, with more to come, and we’re also seeing the introduction of VR casinos too, so players can enjoy slots and bingo like never before.
Online gaming has evolved somewhat too, and again technology has played a part. Thanks to the increases over the years in internet speeds and the reliability of connections, online gaming has become a much more enjoyable experience. Online gaming has also seen the rise of streaming, which in turn has brought eSports and competitive gaming to the fore. eSports has had a huge impact on gaming as it has helped to generate huge interest and attract more players than ever before.
What eSports has also done is change the gaming landscape somewhat too in the way of genres. We’re now seeing more and more developers create eSports ready games, with the likes of Dota 2 and League Of Legends being prime examples. This, in turn, has been huge for mobile gaming, with gamers now able to enjoy multiplayer games on the go, and in high definition too. The only question which remains is, what’s next for gaming?
