Microsoft has released its Teams application for Linux users. Microsoft Teams is an application used for unified communication and collaboration through video conferencing, messaging and chats, file sharing, and integrations with other applications such as git, monitoring tools, CI/CD pipelines e.t.c. This guide will discuss how you can install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu / Fedora and Debian Linux operating systems.

Install Microsoft Teams on Fedora

The rpm package is available for Fedora and CentOS users. The packages are available for download from the releases page.


Once the package is downloaded, install it with dnf command.

$ sudo dnf localinstall teams-

Install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu / Debian Linux

We used an rpm package to install Microsoft Teams on Fedora, for Debian and Ubuntu Linux machine, we’ll use a .deb package.


Then install Teams on Ubuntu / Debian Linux machine with the command:

sudo dpkg -i teams_1.2.00.32451_amd64.deb

If you encounter dependency issues, run:

sudo apt -y -f install

Launch and use Microsoft Teams on Linux

After the installation, launch the application using the command line interface or from the Desktop environment.

Provide your organization email address for login or create a new account and click “Next“.
