Mozilla Firefox is the most popular browser in the world. Kali and Debian comes with Iceweasel which is similar to Firefox with very few differences. If you are in need of firefox Web browser, here is a short guide on how to get it working on Kali and Debian Wheezy.

We’ll install Firefox using Linux mint’s debian import repository. First. add Linux mint’s debian import repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

 vi /etc/apt/sources.list

Then add the following line.

deb debian import

Now, do a system update and install Firefox Web Browser

sudo  apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove iceweasel
sudo apt-get install firefox

You can dow disable Linux Mint’s package repository after installing Firefox. Just comment the repository line you added with a # sign.

The second method that you can use to install Firefox is by downloading.DEB package for Ubuntu from Sourceforge

Then, install it with dpkg -i command. For example, if you downloaded firefox-mozilla-build_35.0.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb 
You’ll type:

sudo apt-get remove iceweasel
sudo dpkg -i firefox-mozilla-build_35.0.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

Another method of installing Firefox is by using the source files. Download Firefox for Linux ( 32 bit or 64-bit) from  in your Language. Go to the directory containing downloaded Firefox file and execute the following commands. If you downloaded a different version change the version number.

sudo apt-get remove iceweasel
tar -xjvf firefox-35.0.1.tar.bz2
sudo mv firefox /opt/firefox
sudo ln -sf /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox

Now fire Firefox up and enjoy.
